The Armenian Ministry of Defense announced that 12 military personnel were captured by the Azerbaijani army.

This happened, according to the department, during an armed confrontation on the border with Azerbaijan.

What’s happening at the border

There the situation worsened once again. Official Yerevan and Baku accuse each other of provocations.

Currently, there is fighting on the border. Both sides suffered losses.

Armenia called on the international community to respond to the actions of Azerbaijan, which, in turn, claims to have repelled a counterattack by the Armenian military.

It all started on November 14 – a shootout took place on the eastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces attempted to ensure positional advancement in the eastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Armenian advanced units prevented the enemy’s attempts to take a position in this territory, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported.

Provocations and losses

A day later, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Azerbaijani troops had invaded the territory of his country. And then it became known that Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan had been fired.

Yesterday afternoon, November 16, according to the Armenian Ministry of Defense, the Azerbaijani military again committed a provocation and fired at Armenian military personnel.

Yerevan responded. “As a result of a fierce firefight, the enemy has lost armored vehicles,” the department said in a statement.

According to him, the enemy suffered heavy losses, including people. In Armenia – as of two o’clock in the afternoon, Belarusian time – four were wounded.

Captured

And by Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Defense announced that 12 Armenian servicemen were captured. Among them are 7 contract soldiers and 5 conscripts.

Azerbaijan also claims provocations from Yerevan, whose units, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, are firing at the positions of the Azerbaijani military from various caliber weapons, sniper rifles and grenade launchers.

Later they announced panic among the Armenian military, who were “abandoning their positions in fear and confusion.”

It is known that after negotiations between Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts, the clashes stopped, Russian media reported.

By the way, Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border by phone.
