The Northeast region had five capital mayors elected in the first round. Three of them won more than double the votes registered in the first phase of the last municipal election, in 2020.

Recife

The capital of Pernambuco, Recife, to the city hall. In this election, he received 725,721 votes (78.11%).

In the last election, in the first round, the candidate received 233,028 votes (29.17%). In other words, the number of votes won in this first round is 211% higher than that recorded in 2020. There were 492,693 more votes.

Saint Louis

The capital of Maranhão, São Luís, to the city hall. In this election, he received 403,981 votes (70.12%).

In the last election, in the first round, the candidate received 193,578 votes (37.81%). In other words, the number of votes won in this first round is 108.6% higher than that recorded in 2020. There were 210,403 more votes.

Maceió

The capital of Alagoas, Maceió, (PL) to the city hall. In this election, he received 379,544 votes (83.25%).

In the last election, in the first round, the candidate received 109,053 votes (83.25%). In other words, the total number of votes won in this first round is 248% higher than that recorded in 2020. There were 270,491 more votes.

Salvador and Teresina

The capitals of Bahia and Piauí also elected their respective mayors in the first round.

In Salvador, it received 1,045,690 votes (78.67%). In the last election, in the first round, the candidate received 779,408 votes (64.20%). In other words, the number of votes won in this first round is 34% higher than that recorded in 2020. There were 266,282 more votes.

In Teresina, it received 239,848 votes (52.19%). In 2020, he did not run for mayor of the city.
