Six corpses were found on the coast of the Turkish province of Antalya, popular among Belarusian and Russian tourists.

The bodies of the men and women were discovered over the past few days.

According to the TASS agency, the dead were pulled out of the water near the beaches at the resorts of Alanya and Manavgat.

Later, representatives of the provincial governor’s office said that the bodies found may belong to citizens who swam from Syria and Lebanon in the direction of Cyprus.

According to local authorities, one of the dead is a Turkish citizen who went missing half a month ago.

The governor’s office says that “the clothing and shoes of the other five victims were made in Syria.”

There is a possibility that the bodies found could belong to people who were on board the sunken boat that was transporting 90 people to Cyprus, officials said.

And they added: before this, the Lebanese Embassy in Turkey reported that on December 11, 2023, a boat set sail from the region located between Lebanon and Syria.

There were 90 people on board. The ship headed for Cyprus. A few hours after departure, communication with the boat was lost.

Separately, regional authorities point out that in Antalya in 2023-2024 no accidents or incidents involving groups of illegal immigrants were reported.

Previously, tourists reported that problems with water may arise in Antalya, Turkey.
