What is known about the attack on a shopping center in Sydney

On April 13 at 15:10, a man wearing shorts and a T-shirt entered the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center in Sydney and 10 minutes later attacked visitors with a knife.

Initially, the police were told that there were two attackers, but this information was not confirmed.

The attack killed 6 people, including a young mother. Her 9-month-old baby and 6 other people were hospitalized, some in critical condition.

The video from the shopping center captured how the attacker walked into the crowd and rushed at everyone he met with a knife.

One of the visitors, armed with an object similar to a stand or tripod, tried to confront the attacker and detained him for some time. It is not yet known whether this person was injured.

Later it turned out that it was a Russian. According to eyewitnesses, he shouted to the attacker in Russian “Don’t come!”

Then a policewoman came into the shopping center. She pursued her attacker alone and shot him dead. The criminal died on the spot.

According to Nine News, the attacker is about 40 years old. Police have not yet released his name. It is being determined whether the attack was a terrorist attack.

Previously, the FBI fears a terrorist attack similar to the Crocus attack.
