8 people died from Legionnaires’ disease in Poland

In Poland, eight people died from legionellosis (“Legionnaires’ disease”).

Polsat TV channel reports this, noting that the eighth death was recently recorded in a hospital in the city of Rzeszow.

An elderly patient with multiple illnesses, including cancer, died there.

Studies have confirmed the presence of Legionella bacteria,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

It is reported that 113 citizens are currently hospitalized with signs of Legionnaires’ disease.

Due to the spread of this infection, local authorities organized a crisis headquarters.

It is assumed that the source of contamination may be the city’s water supply system.

The Rzeszow administration announced its intention to carry out work to disinfect the water supply.

Legionellosis (“Legionnaires’ disease”) is an acute infectious disease accompanied by high fever, general intoxication, damage to the lungs and central nervous system.

According to experts, the probability of death from such a disease is about 10 percent.

Previously, Russian media reported that there is a large NATO logistics hub near Rzeszow, through which Western weapons are transported to Ukraine.
