82-year-old Namibian President Hage Geingob dies

On February 4, the 82-year-old President of Namibia, Hage Geingob, died after being diagnosed with cancer by doctors.

It was previously reported that the politician went to the United States for treatment in January, but returned a short time later.

The death of Namibian political leader Hage Geingob was announced by Vice President Nangolo Mbumba on the presidential office page on the social network H.

It is reported that the politician died in hospital; death was registered on February 4 at 01:04 Moscow time.

It is known that Hage Geingob has been battling cancer for the past few months.

At the end of January, he went to the United States for treatment, but two days later the Namibian president returned back.

Geingob initially served as the country’s prime minister.

He first took the position in 1990 for 12 years.

He was appointed to this position for the second time in 2012.

Hage Geingob was elected to Namibia’s highest office in March 2015 and was re-elected in 2019.

Earlier it became known that a nationwide emergency was declared regarding the victims of the US airstrike in Iraq.
