It became known that the country’s authorities intend to involve police veterans aged 65-87 to guard the Olympic Games in Japan.

According to media reports, a drill review of such a detachment has already taken place. Participation in security is organized on a voluntary basis. A total of 90 police veterans were recruited.

These people voluntarily agreed to maintain law and order at sports venues during the Tokyo Olympics.

Let us remind you that the 2020 Summer Olympics, postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be held from July 23 to August 8.

A unit of Japanese police veterans is planned to be sent on duty near the National Stadium of the Japanese capital.

The opening ceremony of the Olympics and its subsequent completion are planned here.

Elderly police officers will inspect spectators’ belongings, regulate the flow of people, monitor posts on social networks, identifying threats against Games participants, etc.

According to TASS, among the participants in the special unit is 87-year-old Yuzo Suzuki.

As it turned out, the policeman was already involved in guarding the Tokyo Olympics, albeit back in 1964.

In addition to veterans, about 5 thousand police officers will monitor law and order.
