A criminal investigation has been launched in the United States against the Trump Organization.
The chairman of the organization is former American government leader Donald Trump.
Company employees are suspected of inflating the value of assets. Law enforcement officers believe that representatives of the company did this in order to receive benefits.
The decision to give the proceedings the status of a criminal case was made by New York city authorities, foreign media reported.
The American prosecutor’s office emphasized that representatives of the Trump Organization have already been informed that the investigation being carried out against them is no longer an administrative matter.
Early investigation into Trump’s company
Law enforcement officers began studying the activities of the ex-US President’s organization in the spring of 2020.
The investigation was launched in connection with a statement by former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen that the Trump Organization was engaged in illegal activities.
The defense notes that the case is of a political nature.
Lawyers drew attention to the fact that New York prosecutor Letitia James, who announced the criminal case, is a member of the US Democratic Party.
