Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who is in custody, needs hospitalization.

The corresponding statement was made by the politician’s personal physician Nikoloz Kipshidze on Georgian television.

The doctor noted that Saakashvili has a serious disease – thalassemia.

With this illness, you cannot refuse food. However, the ex-head of Georgia still decided to go on a hunger strike.

The result of this decision, according to Kipshidze, was a sharp deterioration in the politician’s health.

As the doctor noted, Saakashvili has difficulty performing simple actions: walking, speaking words.

At the same time, the Georgian Ministry of Justice denied information about the critical condition of the imprisoned politician.

According to officials, Saakashvili’s health indicators (blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar) remain normal.

Let us remind you that Mikheil Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1, shortly after he returned to his homeland. Before this, the politician was on the territory of Ukraine.

Previously, several criminal cases were initiated against the ex-president in Georgia. Sentences were also handed down in absentia.
