On Thursday, October 14, a rally was held on Freedom Square in Tbilisi, in which several thousand people took part.

The demand of the protesters, many of whom are representatives and supporters of the United National Movement political party, was the release of ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili.

Foreign news agencies report this.

In connection with the rally, vehicle traffic was blocked in the center of the Georgian capital.

During the rally, Mikheil Saakashvili’s lawyer Nikoloz Gvaramia read out the politician’s address to the protesters.

The former state leader of Georgia called on the residents of the country to unite, despite political and any other differences.

According to Saakashvili, this is necessary to “save Georgia.”

The politician believes that people should stop showing hatred and give up trying to take revenge.

Saakashvili promised that after his release he would be guided by these principles. At the same time, the ex-president of Georgia called himself “illegally convicted.”
