After lengthy negotiations, the man surrendered to the police.

What happened

According to Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger, a man drove up to the Library of Congress and told police there was a bomb in the car.

In his hands he was holding an object that looked like a detonator. While in the car, the man expressed criticism of the administration of US President Joseph Biden. He also broadcast on Facebook.

FBI officers arrived, nearby buildings were evacuated, and the police entered into negotiations with the man.

The media write that the man suffers from schizophrenia. His ex-wife spoke about this. According to the woman, her ex-husband threatened her with a weapon.

He is crazy, threatened me and his sister with a gun, shot me several times, – she said.

How it all ended

The negotiations were successful, the man surrendered without resistance and was taken into custody.

The suspect, 49-year-old Floyd Ray Roseberry, was safely taken into custody – Capitol Police said.
