A million people were left without power in the US due to Hurricane Ida.

Hurricane Ida, which hit the southern United States yesterday, left more than a million homes and businesses in Louisiana without power.

New Orleans was completely without power.

Mississippi was also hit, with more than 40,000 customers without power.

Hurricane Ida was assigned a Category 4 out of 5 possible ratings. At its peak, wind speeds reached 242 km/h.

US President Joseph Biden declared a natural disaster in Louisiana. At least one person died as a result of the hurricane in Louisiana.

A tornado warning was issued in Mississippi, Florida and Alabama.

According to the latest data from the US National Hurricane Center, the hurricane has weakened to a tropical storm, with wind speeds dropping to 26.4 m/s.
