In the capital of Finland, the World Peace monument donated by the Soviet Union was dismantled.

The Helsinki authorities explained the decision by the implementation of the project to rebuild Hakanimenranta Street.

According to architectural plans, this location of the Finnish capital will take place where the dismantled monument was located.

Currently, a new tram line is being built on this site – MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

Previously, the topic of moving the sculpture was repeatedly raised in Finland.

Thus, three years ago the monument was supposed to be removed when considering a project to renovate the Hakaniemi area.

Then they proposed moving the monument to Lenin Square, but the initiative did not receive support.

It has not yet been announced where the six and a half meter tall sculpture will now be located.

Moscow presented this monument to Helsinki in 1990. In response, she received the sculpture “Children of the World,” installed in Friendship Park on Leningradskoye Shosse.
