A Singapore Airlines plane flying from London to Singapore encountered extremely strong turbulence.

As a result, one person was killed and dozens were injured, including a crew member.

According to MIA Rossiya Segodnya, a 73-year-old British man died. Death is believed to be caused by a heart attack.

In total, there were almost 230 people on board the plane, including crew members.

Because of the incident, the airliner changed course and landed in Bangkok (Thailand).

The media write that some passengers were taken out of the cabin because they could not walk on their own, and several were carried out on stretchers.

Initially, three dozen victims were reported, but, according to the latest data, their number has already exceeded 70 people.

In seven of them, doctors described the injuries as very serious. One crew member was hospitalized.

According to individual publications, a total of 18 people were hospitalized.

One of the passengers told the media that the plane went down sharply in the turbulence zone, which is why unbelted passengers were thrown up to the ceiling.

People hit with such force that in some places panels with light bulbs and masks were broken.

Previously, in the USA, during takeoff, the engine casing was removed from the aircraft.
