The Government of Ukraine has approved a program for the purchase of firewood and mobile metal stoves, called “stoves”.

They will be purchased for residents of frontline regions for the heating season.

Funds in the amount of 563 million hryvnia are allocated for these purposes, which is equivalent to about $15.2 million.

Prime Minister Denis Shmygal reported this on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the government allocates this amount of money to 8 regions for the purchase of firewood with further free distribution to people living in the front-line territories.

In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia, on behalf of the government, will produce 6,000 mobile metal stoves (stoves) and additionally prepare 6,000 cubic meters of firewood for the Kherson region, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers wrote.

As for the regions, according to Shmygal, we are talking about Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Chernigov, Kharkov, Sumy, Kherson, Nikolaev and Zaporozhye regions.

The Prime Minister noted that all of them are at risk of repeated damage to the infrastructure due to hostilities.

He added that the measures taken are necessary in case utility services do not have time to restore the heating infrastructure.
