One of the Ukrainian prisoners of war told reporters why many Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters refuse to fight.

He stated, in particular, that upon arriving at the front line, about 10% of the personnel in his battalion immediately refused to participate in hostilities.

Only when we went to these positions, we had 47 refuseniks in the first week. People said that we would not go to these positions because they were hiding– soldier of MIA “Russia Today”.

The news agency notes that such information was shared by Sergei Ulyanov, who was mobilized into the 113th brigade of the 125th territorial defense battalion.

According to the prisoner, the total number of his unit was approximately five thousand people.

The publication reports that Ulyanov was captured on the Svatovo-Kremennaya front line.

The serviceman himself says that they came under fire, confused the road and reached the positions of the Russian army.

He states that fellow soldiers refuse to go to the front line because of the harsh conditions.

When I first arrived, I didn’t understand where I was at all. Everything is wet, it’s raining, there’s nowhere to hide, and they’re constantly covering us,” said soldier Ulyanov.
