Abnormal heat forced Japan to introduce electricity saving mode

45views

For the first time in the last seven years, an electricity saving mode has been introduced in Japan.

This decision was made by the local government, explaining this by the abnormal heat that hit the country.

Authorities are also urging residents and businesses to use electricity wisely by reducing their consumption during the summer.

Calculations have shown that during extreme heat in almost all regions of Japan (with the exception of Okinawa and Hokkaido), the electricity reserve factor can be only 3.7% (critical level – 3%).

About this MIA “Russia Today”, noting that the use of air conditioners and other electrical appliances to avoid heat stroke is allowed.

But the use of electricity for secondary purposes, for example, for lighting advertising signs, displaying televisions in stores, etc., is ordered to be reduced.

All this week, Tokyo and other 8 prefectures in Japan were under a grid load warning due to extreme heat.

By the way, in several areas of the island state these days the air temperature was recorded at around 40 degrees.

And in Tokyo on June 30, a temperature record for the month was set – the air in the capital warmed above +36 degrees.
