Starlink once again sent a letter to the government and the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to reaffirm that it blocked access to X in Brazil.

The company took the initiative to file the letter after the Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filho, stated in an interview that in case of non-compliance with the court decision.

A CNN had access to the Starlink document. The letter was signed by lawyer Tomás Filipe Schoeller Paiva and addressed to minister Juscelino and the president of Anatel, Carlos Manuel Baigorri.

“Complies with legislation”

In the letter, Starlink says that “it communicated to the agency and proved that it blocked the URLs x.com and twitter.com, which are the domains from which the X platform can be accessed in Brazil”.

The document also reinforces that Anatel has already certified to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) the company’s compliance with the decision.

“Starlink reaffirms that it complies with Brazilian legislation”, concludes the company.

Retreat

After the decision by STF minister Alexandre de Moraes to request the platform to be blocked, on August 30, Starlink even told Anatel that it would not comply with the determination.

The company is controlled by Elon Musk, the same owner of X, but has different shareholders.

However, Starlink backed down last Tuesday (3) and stated that it would comply with the order.

The change in stance was announced after Anatel said it would initiate procedures to investigate the company’s conduct.

Starlink operates a network of satellites to connect internet to remote points. Currently, there are 224.5 thousand company customers nationwide — around a third of them are in the North of the country.
