44views

The government will ask the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for more time to resolve the impasse over parliamentary amendments with Congress.

The request must be made official on Tuesday (9) by the Attorney General’s Office (AGU).

According to members of the Executive, there are still outstanding issues that need to be finalized, but they hope that the agreement will be announced soon.

The second deadline for one ends this Monday (9).

Amendments

After the STF decided to suspend payment of amendments, on August 20, representatives of the Three Powers reached some consensus on transparency and delimitation of the use of money.

The following points remained to be defined:

  • the criteria for configuring the mandatory payment of amendments (the so-called imposition), in the case of individual and bench amendments;
  • the procedure to be adopted by the Legislative and Executive branches to, by “common agreement”, allocate values from commission amendments to projects considered to be of national or regional interest.

It was also decided that the amendments cannot grow in greater proportion to the increase in total discretionary expenses (those expenses that are not mandatory, such as investment and funding).
