Alckmin’s office calls the Air Force and asks for information about problems with Lula’s plane | Blogs
The office of the vice-president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), contacted the Air Force this Tuesday (1st) to find out what he, as acting president, should adopt as a measure.
He was also asked if there was a new expected arrival time for Lula in the country, following the technical problem identified on the presidential aircraft, on his return from Mexico to Brazil.
Without Lula on Brazilian soil, Alckmin is responsible for the decisions at Palácio do Planalto. At around 7:40 pm, the Vice-Presidency called Brigadier Reginaldo Pontirolli, head of the Institutional Relations department of the Air Force commander, Marcelo Damasceno.
Minutes later, Alckmin’s office was informed that there is, for now, no estimate for the landing of Lula’s plane in Brazil, originally scheduled for 2 am (Brasília time).
Officially, all information about the problem and flight conditions was reported to the Vice-Presidency.
Alckmin was informed that, for safety reasons, the FAB chose to exchange Lula’s aircraft.
At this moment, the VC1 plane is flying over Mexico, to land again at the Mexican capital’s airport and, thus, Lula and his delegation will be able to board the VC2.
The Air Force also explained that to carry out the landing, it is necessary to reduce the volume of fuel first. This will impact the reduction of flight weight. Only after the appropriate weighing for landing has been recorded will the plane land.
