The world continues to be shaken by earthquakes. This time the disaster struck long-suffering Turkey, which has experienced several deadly disasters of this kind.
Seismologists recorded “ground tremors” in the province of Canakkale, located in the western part of the country.
According to them, the power of the earthquake was 4.9 points.
As MIA “Russia Today” with reference to the Office for Elimination of Natural Disasters (AFAD), the emergency occurred on March 4 at 21:38 (the time coincides with Belarusian).
The source of the earthquake lay near the village of Yenidzhe at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
And according to information from seismologists from the Kandilli Observatory, the source lay at a greater depth – over 14 km.
The media write that even residents of Istanbul (at least its European part) felt slight tremors from the earthquake that struck in the named province.
According to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikay, there was no information about damage or casualties.
Previously, magnitude 5 occurred in the Kazakh city of Almaty.
