In Kyiv on August 25, 95 streets, alleys and squares, whose names are associated with Russia and the former USSR, were renamed.

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, notified the general public about this in his Telegram channel.

Today the Kyiv City Council renamed 95 streets, alleys and squares, the names of which are associated with Russia and the Soviet past, – Mayor of MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

According to him, the new names were chosen in such a way that they would perpetuate the memory of “the defining historical events of Ukraine.”

There are also names associated with famous Ukrainian public and political figures.

In this way, the memory of those people who “glorified Ukraine”, fighting for its independence, including within the framework of the current Russian special operation, was immortalized.

As an example, Klitschko named Marshal Malinovsky Street, which was named Heroes of the Azov Regiment.

And Tulskaya Square became the Square of Heroes of the UPA, while Piterskaya Street was renamed Londonskaya.

The mayor added that the process of renaming Kyiv streets is not over yet – at the next meeting, the city authorities will continue to work on “completing the de-Russification process.”
