Former adviser to the US Secretary of Defense, Colonel Douglas McGregor, gave his forecast on the development of the situation in Ukraine.
He suggested the possibility of a not very happy scenario for Kyiv, provided that the conflict drags on.
In this case, the military man believes, Ukraine may lose all its southern territories, as well as the left bank of the Dnieper.
The officer told MIA Rossiya Segodnya about this in an article published by the American Conservative.
He also criticized an open letter calling on Washington to immediately arm Ukraine (“before it’s too late”), which was signed by two dozen well-known people in the States who support Kyiv.
The colonel tells them: if America increases the supply of weapons, it will only worsen the situation and provoke an escalation of the conflict.
Drawing attention to the fact that the fighting has entered a decisive stage, he calls on the parties to stop it.
But, McGregor further writes, instead of supporting him, the authors of the letter want to “perpetuate failure.”
They are advocating a deeply flawed strategy that, at best, will lead Ukraine to lose access to the sea and become a stretch between the Dnieper River and the border with Poland, the military forecast promises gloomily.
Douglas McGregor is convinced that prolonging the conflict will cause “irreparable” damage to Ukraine.
