An assassination attempt on the head of the German concern Rheinmetall, which produces weapons for Ukraine, was prevented

The TV channel claims that it received information about the thwarted assassination attempt from sources, which it did not name.

CNN suggests that Russia may have been behind the failed assassination attempt on Mr. Papperger.

The details were published by Spiegel, citing sources in European security agencies.

They claim that back in May, German law enforcement officers received information from foreign intelligence services about an impending assassination attempt on Papperger.

After this, suspicious persons from among those who could potentially be in the ranks of the conspirators were taken under surveillance.

But there was not enough evidence to detain these people.

Spiegel writes that they were monitoring citizens of various countries of the former USSR, including Russians.

Some of the group were already in Europe, others were preparing to enter.

The suspects, according to the publication, allegedly often visited the area of ​​Düsseldorf, where the headquarters of Rheinmetall is located.

In addition, they also visited places outside Germany, which were visited by the head of the concern.
