Residents of the Kazakh city of Almaty recently felt quite serious tremors.
There was an earthquake. Experts rated its strength as 5 points on the MSK-64 scale.
TASS agency reported this with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.
The earthquake, according to the report, was recorded by the ministry’s network of seismic stations.
This happened on Monday, March 4, at 11:22 a.m. local time (08:22 a.m. Minsk time).
It is noted that the epicenter of the “tremor” was located 31 kilometers south of Almaty.
The energy class of the earthquake is 13.2. The magnitude of the MPV is 6.1, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic reported.
In turn, city rescuers turned on the sirens. Local residents took to the streets due to fears of aftershocks.
Through loudspeakers, citizens were urged not to panic.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations also reported that in the Alma-Ata region the earthquake was felt with a force of 5 points, in Zhetysu – 2 points.
The personnel of the Almaty Emergency Situations Department were raised by the signal “Gathering,” the department noted.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, at the time of publication of the material there was no information about casualties.
Rescuers continued to monitor the situation, collecting data, including on the consequences of the earthquake.
Previously, they occurred on the border of Kyrgyzstan and China, as well as in China itself.
