John Barnett, a 62-year-old former Boeing quality control engineer who reported problems with aircraft assembly, was found dead in the United States.

The British edition of The Daily Mail reports this.

What we know about the death of the Boeing whistleblower

According to the report, Barnett was found dead in his car in the parking lot of a hotel in South Carolina.

Police said Barnett’s cause of death was a self-inflicted wound.

It is noted that Barnett died during the lawsuit initiated after Boeing’s counterclaim.

Barnett’s lawyer, Brian Knowles, said his client testified about the case to Boeing lawyers last week.

Barnett worked for the company for 32 years and retired in 2017.

He alleged that the production of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner used second-rate parts to avoid delays.

An FAA audit in 2017 confirmed some of Barnett’s claims. The department demanded that Boeing take action.

It was previously reported that Republicans in Congress would accept US President Joe Biden’s budget request.
