There are three main components that the polls will reveal on Sunday: The consolidation of Centrão as the country’s main political force. Lula and Bolsonaro’s inability to transfer votes. And the strength of the candidates for re-election.
Confirmed on Sunday, these three items will dictate Brazilian policy from Monday onwards.
Centrão will have more firepower in negotiations with the wingers over the next two years.
This involves everything from the direction of the economic agenda to the fate of the Lula government in the final stretch.
It will be Centrão, turbocharged with hundreds of mayors working in its favor, that will choose which side it will be on in 2026.
And, as those who elect more mayors elect more deputies and senators, the Centrão will also be the axis of any new government.
We have no escape. Brazil belongs to Centrão.
