Analysis: “Upgrade” of Brazil’s credit rating strengthens Haddad and generates jealousy within the government

0views

The increase in Brazil’s credit rating by Moody’s, a risk rating agency, strengthened the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and left a wing of the government jealous.

The agency also highlighted the economic reforms approved and drew attention to the commitment to fiscal targets and the debt stabilization path.

The government celebrated the result. But there is an element of jealousy. Some ministers see Haddad as strengthened. Therefore, with a greater chance of being “blessed” by Lula, if the president decides not to seek re-election.

Haddad’s flag, the rigor with the fiscal target is the target of constant criticism from a wing of the PT. Party representatives allege damage to the ability to invest, for example, in social programs.

Meanwhile, Haddad tries to convince that “this rebalancing will produce results, bring investment back, continue employment and control inflation”.

The Treasury’s assessment is that Brazil today has international recognition that does not exist internally.

According to Treasury sources, the “upgrade” granted by Moody’s was important for government sectors to understand that this is a response to the “operators of chaos”.
