The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has not yet been notified by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to proceed with the unblocking of X in Brazil. Anatel is awaiting notification to advise the more than 20,000 internet providers to reactivate the social network.

On Tuesday (8), Minister Alexandre de Moraes said that . According to Moraes, it was solely due to full compliance with Brazilian legislation and “absolute compliance with the decisions of the Judiciary, in respect for national sovereignty”.

The decision to reactivate the social network in Brazil, which was offline for 39 days, was analyzed by the Attorney General’s Office, which said it did not identify reasons for preventing the return. The conditions imposed were: payment of a fine of R$28.6 million, the suspension of nine profiles on the platform and the appointment of a legal representative in Brazil.

Gradual return

After the unblocking was determined, some users of the social network indicated that they were able to access the X, even without the official notification being sent by the Supreme Court to Anatel. The Agency was contacted and informed that the “access episodes are in the investigation phase”, as internet providers have not yet been formally advised.
