Another strain of coronavirus may be resistant to vaccines

17views

Chilean scientists have concluded that the Lambda coronavirus identified in the country may be resistant to vaccines.

The coronavirus mutation spreading in Peru may have even more persistent characteristics in this regard than previously identified mutations.

The researchers were prompted to such conclusions by the fact that the incidence rate is growing, despite mass vaccination in the country.

Currently, the presence of the Lambda variant has been confirmed in Peru, Ecuador, Chile and Argentina.

However, scientists cannot yet definitively assess the threat of the Lambda virus. It has been established that this mutation has an unusual set of mutations.

Epidemiologists, as in the case of the Indian mutation, report displacement of the original variant of COVID-19.

Recall that the Lambda version of the coronavirus was discovered in Peru in August last year.

Since then, WHO representatives have included the Lambda strain in the group of interest for study.

In this case, the mutation process does not stop. New options are expected to appear soon.
