Artillery shells and guided missiles. The US will help Kyiv for $300 million

The Biden administration will provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid worth $300 million.

It includes, among other things, artillery shells and guided missiles.

TASS reported this with reference to a statement by US Presidential Assistant for National Security Jake Sullivan.

Unexpected savings

On behalf of the head of state, he announced an “emergency military assistance package” designed to “satisfy some of the urgent needs” of Kyiv.

This is possible due to unexpected savings within the framework of contracts, agreements that the US Department of Defense reached to replenish the equipment that we had already sent to Ukraine in the previous transfer of weapons from warehouses,” the official said.

He explained: “modest funding” is now available due to the fact that Washington has entered into contracts for the purchase of weapons to replenish its stockpiles on more favorable terms than expected.

Sullivan called the new aid package not only emergency, but also “secret.”

What will they convey?

According to him, it included artillery shells and GMLRS guided missiles for HIMARS.

This is exactly the kind of help that Biden’s aide believes Ukraine “desperately needs.”

However, he clarified, these shells will only allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to fire for a short time, which is not enough to satisfy all the military needs of Kyiv.

And that won’t prevent Ukraine from running out of ammunition in the coming weeks, Sullivan warned.

He does not rule out that these shells will last less than a month, and perhaps only “a couple of weeks.”

Then he said that the White House still hopes for Congress to approve additional funding to support Ukraine.

Earlier, Republicans in Congress accepted Biden’s budget request.
