“I was not an oil worker, certainly due to my professional training and the little time of schooling I had, I would never pass the Petrobras competition”, stated the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), this Friday morning (13 ), at an inauguration ceremony of the Boaventura Energy Complex in Itaboraí, in Rio de Janeiro.

He commented on the fact that he was wearing a Petrobras shirt during the event.

“As the people are more intelligent than those who take the exam, the people thought I should be president of the Republic and that is why I am here at Petrobras with you”, he added.

During his speech, Lula criticized the privatization of Petrobras and the Brazilian business community.

“There is no rich businessman because he became rich, those who became rich were those who got their hands dirty, who worked, who did the work, who picked up the trowel and made dough. What we want is just to share a little of what we produce”, continued the Chief Executive, who became emotional when telling about his story and that of his family.

Also present at the ceremony were the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira and the president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard.

The inaugurated industrial hub is made up of the largest natural gas processing unit (UPGN) in the country, and is part of the Rota 3 Integrated Project (PIR3).
