It has become known that the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has withdrawn its application for approval of the use of the COVID-19 vaccine in Switzerland.

This became known today on November 4 from a message from the state regulator Swissmedic, which supervises the drug market in the state.

The Oxford vaccine appeared more often than other anti-Covid drugs in news reports reporting the risk of side effects after vaccination.

At the end of June, it became known that European politicians, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, refused to administer the second dose of the drug.

The use of AstraZeneca was also suspended in the EU after cases of thrombosis were detected in vaccinated patients.

AstraZeneca AG announced today that it is no longer seeking marketing authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine in Switzerland. The company has withdrawn its application for authorization for a COVID-19 vaccine, which it submitted to Swissmedic in October 2020, the Swissmedic MIA report quotes.

It is known that anti-coronavirus drugs Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech and Johnson & Johnson were previously approved in Switzerland.

According to Swiss medical authorities, there are no more applications for registration of COVID-19 vaccines in the country.
