Attack on the UK Ministry of Defense: hackers broke into servers

61views

The UK Ministry of Defense was subject to a hacker attack: as a result of an attack by cybercriminals, the department’s servers were hacked.

As a result, the attackers stole data relating to ministry employees, as well as active military personnel.

Sky News reported this, noting that the hackers may be associated with China.

TV channel sources say that in connection with the incident, representatives of the country’s government will make a special statement today, May 7.

At the same time, as the TASS agency has reviewed the Sky News publication, the United Kingdom authorities do not yet intend to directly blame the PRC for what happened.

From the details of the emergency, it is known that hackers hacked the payroll processing systems.

Thanks to this, criminals gained access to personal data, including bank details, of employees of the British Ministry of Defense, as well as current and former military personnel.

The department is conducting an investigation into the hacker attack.

It is reported that the hacked servers belonged to a contractor company. They were not connected to the ministry’s systems.

However, Sky News points out, the very fact that a cyber attack has occurred may force countries that have difficult relations with the Middle Kingdom to reconsider their principles regarding the exchange of sensitive information with the UK.
