Because of the delta strain: Israel will return coronavirus restrictions

0views

Over the past month, Israel has seen a deterioration in the epidemiological situation.

If back in June the daily increase in COVID-19 infections could be less than 10, then in July the figure is at the level of 200-1000.

This is despite a significant proportion of the population being vaccinated.

According to experts, the increase in incidence in Israel is associated with the spread of the “delta” variant (“Indian” strain) of the pathogen SARS-CoV-2.

In this regard, the country plans to return previously lifted coronavirus restrictions.

The new rules will come into force on Wednesday, July 21, foreign media report.

What restrictions will be returned?

Starting from the middle of this week, only those residents of Israel who have been vaccinated against coronavirus or have passed a negative test for COVID-19 will be able to attend public events.

The country’s authorities noted that this restriction is not recommended, but strictly mandatory.

In addition, Israelis must observe the mask regime, which was returned after the “delta” strain began to spread.

The Israeli government recommends that people who have not yet done so get vaccinated against coronavirus.
