Biden plans to freeze the conflict in Ukraine ahead of the US presidential election

It recently became known that Joe Biden, on the eve of the upcoming presidential elections in the United States this fall, planned to freeze the Ukrainian conflict.

Western media write about this, but some of them clarify: such plans are hatched not by the head of state himself, but by his administration.

The director of the Eurasian Program at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Government, Anatole Lieven, told the magazine in question:

The Biden administration just wants to keep things as they are until the next election, when either Ukraine becomes Trump’s problem or they start thinking about the possibility of a peaceful settlement again.

According to the publication, based on these considerations, the White House is forced to take actions to prevent the collapse of Ukraine.

But at the same time, American policymakers are trying not to provoke an escalation of the conflict to the point where Moscow might react sharply.

The expert draws attention to the fact that Ukraine is becoming weaker.

As Russian pressure on Ukraine grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to walk this line, he said.
