Biden: US ready to militarily defend Taiwan in case of invasion

0views

The United States is prepared to defend Taiwan militarily in the event of an invasion.

This was stated by American leader Joe Biden during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

The event took place in Tokyo, where the owner of the White House, MIA Rossiya Segodnya, arrived after a visit to South Korea.

Regarding Taiwan, Biden was asked a question by a media representative. He replied that, yes, Washington is ready to defend Taiwan – these are “those obligations” that it has undertaken.

“We continue to be committed to maintaining the peace and security of the Taiwan Strait and intend to ensure that its status quo is not changed unilaterally,” the president explained the White House position.

It is worth saying that last week there was a telephone conversation between the head of the office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the National Security Advisor to the US President.

Yang Jiechi said that recently the United States has made several “wrong actions and statements.”

He explained: we are talking about US interference in the internal affairs of China.

In this regard, Mr. Jiechi, represented by Jake Sullivan, called on Washington to “strictly abide by its obligations and abide by the one-China principle.”
