“Big mistake.” Biden commented on the suspension of Russia’s participation in the New START Treaty

US President Joseph Biden commented on the suspension of Russia’s participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.

The American leader called Russia’s suspension of New START a big mistake, but expressed confidence that a solution would be found.

Biden made this statement in an interview with an American television channel.

How Biden commented on Russia’s suspension of New START

The US President called the suspension of Russia’s participation in the treaty not the most responsible step and a big mistake.

At the same time, Biden noted that he does not consider this decision of the Russian leadership to be evidence of Russia’s preparation for the use of nuclear weapons.

I think it’s a mistake, but I’m sure we can find a solution, – said the American leader.

Let us recall that on February 21, in a message to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the suspension of Russia’s participation in the New START Treaty, clarifying that this is specifically about the suspension of participation in the treaty, and not about withdrawal from it.

The day before, both chambers of the Russian parliament unanimously adopted the corresponding law.
