Bloomberg: Macron and Meloni provoked a diplomatic row at the summit in Grenada

18views

The summit was held in the Spanish city of Granada on Thursday and Friday.

Representatives of the European political community took part in the event, which took place on October 5 and 6.

Topics for discussion included potential EU enlargement and the issue of migration.

The latter was precisely the reason for the diplomatic scandal that broke out during the event. At least this event was reported by the American media.

The essence of the scandal

It is noted that the scandal was provoked by two politicians: French state leader Emmanuel Macron and the head of the Italian government, George Meloni.

During an event in Granada, they agreed to take part in a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. It is reported that politicians are planning to discuss the topic of migration.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez felt that this was a distraction from the formal negotiations that were already underway under his leadership. – MIA quotes a translation from a message from the American news agency Bloomberg.

It is emphasized that against the backdrop of what happened, the irritated Spanish politician decided to cancel a joint press conference with his British colleague.

As foreign media report, many representatives of the European Union express concern about the number of migrants, but open discussion of this topic raises certain difficulties.
