What Borrell said about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

The EU’s foreign policy chief said the tragedy unfolding in the Middle East is the result of a collective moral and political failure for which Palestinians and Israelis are paying the price.

This price will continue to increase, – Borrell added.

In his opinion, the reason for this failure was the lack of will in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The head of European diplomacy emphasized that the world community has one last opportunity to achieve success in resolving the conflict.

If we do not succeed in a two-state solution, we will find ourselves in a spiral of violence and mutual hatred for generations to come. – he warned.

Exacerbation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

On October 7, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement announced an operation against Israel called the Al-Aqsa Flood. After a large-scale rocket attack from the Gaza Strip, Hamas fighters infiltrated the southern border areas of Israel.

Israel responded by launching Operation Iron Swords in the Gaza Strip. Within a few days, the Israeli Defense Forces took control of all settlements in the border area and began carrying out airstrikes on targets in Gaza.

Israel also announced a complete blockade of the enclave, stopping the supply of fuel, electricity, water, food, and medicine.

The death toll in Gaza has reached almost 10,000, with 25,000 injured.

More than 1,400 people were killed on the Israeli side. According to various estimates, there are about 200-250 people held captive by Hamas.
