Botswana President threatens Germans with sending 20,000 elephants to Germany

Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi threatened Berlin with sending a gift to Germany that shocked the Germans – a shipment of 20,000 elephants.

He promised to do this after the German authorities announced their desire to introduce stricter restrictions on the import of hunting trophies.

The TASS agency reports about an unusual incident from the world of animals and politics with reference to the BBC.

We would like to make such a gift to Germany, – this is what the leader of an African country rich in elephants said publicly.

The head of state emphasized that what he said was by no means a joke, and he would not accept Germany’s refusal to accept the gift.

The Germans should live with animals the way you are trying to teach us,” Mr. Masisi explained his position.

By the way, as of today, 130,000 elephants roam freely in Botswana, that is, in the wild, and this is a third of the world population.

For local farmers, animals are a constant headache as they destroy crops on farmers’ property.

Therefore, the people there increasingly and louder began to call for an artificial reduction in the number of elephants.

And Botswana authorities believe that the problem is aggravated by restrictions imposed by some Western countries on elephant hunting and the import of hunting trophies.

And here it is worth mentioning the following fact: in the European Union, Germany is the largest importer of elephant hunting trophies.

Previously, he was the oldest man on Earth – he was 114 years old.
