Britain failed to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile. Ministry of Defense confirmed

The UK Ministry of Defense confirmed information about the failure that befell the country’s military.

We are talking about the failed launch of the Trident II intercontinental ballistic missile from the nuclear submarine HMS Vanguard.

The head of the United Kingdom’s defense department, Grant Shapps, was on board the submarine at the time, MIA Rossiya Segodnya citing the Sun newspaper.

According to the latter, the missile “misfired sharply and fell into the ocean a few meters from the submarine” from which it was launched.

The launch failure occurred while Defense Secretary Grant Shapps was on board HMS Vanguard to observe the tests, the publication said.

It also notes that the incident took place during an exercise on January 30 off the coast of Florida.

Later, an investigation into what happened began – London carried out a search operation to remove the missile from the seabed.

The British Ministry of Defense explained what happened as follows: “an anomaly occurred” during the launch.

An anomaly occurred during the test. For reasons of national security, we cannot provide further information on this issue, the British military says.

Earlier it became known that a British nuclear submarine almost sank.
