British experts told how many tanks Kyiv needs for an offensive

0views

Some British experts consider the number of tanks that London intends to supply to Ukraine to be insufficient.

They explain: this volume of this type of military equipment is not enough for Kyiv to gain an advantage in the combat zone.

In particular, journalist Dan Sabbeg informs about this on the pages of The Guardian.

Sending 14 Challenger 2 tanks is not enough on its own, and even if Britain wanted to commit more of its 227 arsenal, it would not be able to provide the required volume. – columnist for MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

In his opinion, despite the fact that the West has begun to supply Kyiv with weapons more intensively, the current number of tanks being transferred is not enough for the Ukrainian army to launch a counter-offensive.

In this regard, Mr. Sabbeg asked the question: how many tanks does the Ukrainian Armed Forces need to be able to launch an offensive?

The answer, he said, is given by experts from the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

The answer is approximately 100 units, a figure promoted by Phil Osborne, the former head of UK defense intelligence, explained the author of the article.

In addition, experts say that training the Ukrainian military to control NATO “leopards” and British “Challengers” can take a lot of time – from 3 weeks to 1.5 months.

At the same time, the effectiveness of using these machines will still depend on how competent the plan developed by the Ukrainian military command is, they added.
