David Emess, 69, met with his constituents at church. The deputy was a member of the Conservative Party. The meeting took place in Leigh-on-Sea.

Later there was an attack by an unknown person.

The politician was stabbed several times.

The deputy was provided with the necessary medical assistance and sent to a health care facility. However, it was not possible to save him.

It also became known that the politician was married. He left five children.

The foreign press, citing representatives of law enforcement agencies, reported that they managed to detain the suspect.

He turned out to be a young man, whose motives are still being established.
