Bulgaria and Romania “partially” join the Schengen area

38views

The European Union agreed to “partially” admit Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen zone.

This means that within this integration space, border controls are abolished for the named countries, but only at sea and air borders.

But border controls will still be in effect at land borders, which is why they dubbed this entry into the Schengen zone “partial”.

The corresponding decision was made (unanimously) by the Council of the European Union, and this event was welcomed by the European Commission – MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

It is noted that at air and sea borders, border controls will begin to “disappear” from March 2024.

The EC draws attention: the entry into Schengen of Romania and Bulgaria will contribute to more intensive development of trade, tourism, and saturation of the domestic market.

Discussions on the next decision regarding the abolition of controls at land borders will continue in 2024, the statement notes.

Earlier, Miley reported about Argentina joining BRICS.
