Canine coronavirus detected in children in Malaysia

9views

American scientists have confirmed information that canine coronavirus can be transmitted to humans.

After several cases of the disease in children were confirmed on the Malaysian island of Borneo, scientists announced the ability of a new type of coronavirus to be transmitted to children.

Having studied the structure of the virus, Ohio University noted its refined genetic structure and came to the conclusion that this strain is more resistant.

Until recently, science knew of 7 types of coronaviruses.

Among them is the virus that triggered the SARS epidemic in the early 2000s, and the no less famous SARS-CoV-2, which marked the beginning of the global pandemic.

Not long ago, two more types of coronavirus were identified. Dogs began to be suspected of spreading them.

Next came the suggestion that the virus could be transmitted from animals to humans.

So far, scientists do not have sufficient data to confidently call the identified disease another type of coronavirus infection.

It is also unknown to what extent this strain was able to adapt to the human body.

But at the same time, it was possible to find out that canine coronavirus can be transmitted from animal to person, but there is no information about whether this virus is then transmitted from person to person.
