Minister Cármen Lúcia, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), asked the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for an opinion on an appeal by senator Sergio Moro (União-PR), accused of slander against minister Gilmar Mendes.
At the beginning of June, unanimously, the First Panel of the Supreme Court decided to accept the complaint offered by the PGR against Moro. The accusation originates from a video in which he suggests that Gilmar “sells” the granting of habeas corpus.
“The intentional conduct of the accused, described by the PGR, consisted of exposing his free and conscious will to falsely impute to the magistrate of this Supreme Court a fact defined as a crime of passive corruption”, stated Cármen at the trial.
In the appeal, , or even if you had prior knowledge that this would occur. According to his defense, it was just an “unfortunate speech”.
Now, the PGR must send a statement to the Supreme Court indicating whether it agrees or disagrees with Moro’s allegations in the appeal, officially called “clarification embargos”. The minister did not give a deadline for sending the opinion.
