20views

A case of bubonic plague has been reported in China.

A 55-year-old woman was infected in the city of Shizuishan in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, in the northwest of the country.

This was announced on August 22 at the local committee on hygiene and health issues.

The condition of the sick woman is assessed by doctors as critical.

It was established that the first signs of the disease appeared in the patient on August 14.

An emergency response mechanism has been activated to prevent the spread of infection.

It is noted that the woman was engaged in livestock farming in the neighboring Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Cases of plague are periodically recorded by Chinese epidemiological control authorities in the north of the country in the steppe zone, as well as in neighboring Mongolia.

As a rule, the cause of infection is eating the meat of rodents, which are carriers of the infection.
