Case X: deadline for sending information to Moraes should start this Monday

The deadline for public bodies and lawyers who intend to represent X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil to send information to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) should begin this Monday (23).

The minister requires that, within a period of five days, the office that represents X send documents to the court that prove the company’s legal representative in the country.

Moraes further determined that within 48 hours:

  • Federal Revenue and Central Bank inform the current legal situation of X’s representation in Brazil;
  • ⁠Federal Police and National Telecommunications Agency send reports on the continued possibility of access to platform X, through technological instruments, for the purpose of calculating any fine to be applied;
  • ⁠The Judicial Secretariat of the STF certifies the total amount of the fine owed by the representative of X and the court orders pending compliance.

The deadlines of 48 hours for Revenue, BC, PF and Anatel and five days for lawyers should start counting this Monday, because the minister’s decision was taken over the weekend.

As a result, public bodies must present the information to Moraes by Wednesday (25) and lawyers by Saturday (28).
