Chamber approves project that requires installation of “panic buttons” in schools

39views

The Chamber of Deputies approved on Tuesday (10) a bill that obliges public and private schools to adopt security measures to prevent episodes of violence. The text goes to the Senate for analysis.

Among the actions required is the installation of an emergency device to call competent authorities in cases of emergency, a type of “panic button”.

In addition to the “panic button”, the proposal makes it mandatory to install security cameras, train personnel responsible for activating and operating security equipment, in addition to developing plans to prevent and combat violence in schools.

The text also reserves a minimum of 2% of the resources of the National Public Security Fund (FNSP) for the application of the measures provided for in the law, such as purchasing equipment and training/training of public security professionals and employees in actions related to the topic.

Another initiative foreseen in the project is the obligation for all states to create, within the scope of public security intelligence bodies, a specific area for preventing violence in schools, including on the internet.
